warm up
What are flowers? I have not touched any in almost 2 weeks, and I'm not going to until the 12th or so. A self-imposed HIATUS! After a bad dream the other night Eric asks me if I'm worried about losing my edge. I considered this, then threw it out. Let me tell you something strange; being in Canada without internet, without email was a revelatory experience. I found I couldn't really even think about Saipua while I was gone. When I got back yesterday my mind switched back on with new ideas that could only happen after time away. [I want to throw a Valentines Day dinner party with LOBSTERS! Lemongrass coriander soap, Anise lavender soap with honeysuckle? Green chili coconut soup I mean soap? I want to start my own under-trimmings line! I want to open a flower shop in Paris with Nikki!] It's like I got re-booted!
My Hiatus continues. Tomorrow I fly to San Juan and then Vieques for some time away with my sister. Do you know I've never been anywhere tropical before?
I will pre-program some things for you.
And thank you for your kind comments about my grandmother. I want to be clear that she seems very content. The nursing home is a very nice one, with a thorough and loving staff (one nurse was learning some Finnish to be able to say I Love You to my Mummo). The emotional challenge I referred to has more to do with me accepting change. More on this someday. Until then Mina Rakastan Sinua...

Canadian winters do have the ability to shut you off in many ways - I've spent many a-summers up in Perry sound, I smiled a bit in your mention. Haven't been back to Ontario cottage country in a while, seems tragic.
I would totally come to that valentines day dinner party, or, you know, invite myself to it, as it's pretty brilliant. If I didn't live in a currently-19F-Austin. only a minor issue, right?
happy travels!
I've never been to Puerto Rico, but I've been to the tropics. I hope you have the amazing recharge experience I usually have when I'm there. Warmth from the sun and the people and faded bright color. All I have to do is think about a time on a turquoise beach and I automatically feel awesome.
As you can tell I'm long over due for a self imposed break.
P.S. I love your reboot plans.
I love your photos so much.
What are undertrimmings? Sounds like fancy undies!
A shop in Paris, perfect!
In all my years doing flowers, there was never a valentines day that ended with anything more elegant than collapsing around midnight after the exhausting marathon, so I deeply envy your lobster!!! I hope it will be wonderful!!
Glad your grandma is ok, I know how hard that can be!
See you later for chocolate!
Everything you have just said sounds great. A little clarity is so important sometimes -- and dreams too! (the good kind of thinking ahead dreams, not the bad unconscious dreams)
Also that top flower arrangement is gorgeous -- it has so many of my favorites in one place. Scabiosa pods, sweet peas, ranunculus, and amaryllis? So amazing.
ahhh, warmth. just what i needed today. and....LOVE that you are filled with new inspiration. YESSSssssss!
Vieques!! I was married there, at the Inn on the Blue Horizon! I hope it's still there...But you will love Vieques!
wow.
i found your blog through Orangette and...
well let me say that i might have to love you just a little bit. beautiful! :)
I found your blog while meandering the internet and what a happy run in! I love your blog. I read it faithfully in my feed reader. Can't wait to see what your "invigoration" brings for us to enjoy!
Silence nurtures the soul and fosters creativity. Wonderful ideas, all. Hyvaa matkaa! Now only if I could figure out how to write Finnish letters on this iPad....
Big Island Hawaii - turquoise waters with coral gardens, scent of plumeria, warm damp air and neon flowers that make love to your senses. Love your pile of ideas (lemongrass coriander soup, anise lavender soap). Take your time.
Have so much fun in Vieques! Have a drink at the Inn on the Blue Horizon and definitely do the Bio Bay. Its amazing and sparkly!!
Have fun in Vieques! I was there last summer and we're going back again this summer (my boss has a house there). It's amazing.
Our favorite was blue beach. I hope you get to drive by Club Tumby near the military bunkers...that place amuses me because it seems so out of a place on the island (never been inside though).
Travel safe! I wish I could go somewhere tropical right now. Super jealous ;)
gosh, I wish your shop were in Manhattan!
