Just back from a week in Canada, near Parry Sound. It snowed. Pipes froze. Holes hacked in the ice, sauna baths. Eric and I hauled a lot of buckets of water, a lot of wood. Practiced massage techniques on our sore muscles. Argued over constellations. Some more photos here.
The truth is it was an emotionally draining week for me. I helped get my mummo situated in a nursing home. Have you spent any time in a nursing home? Then you know. I was wheeling one lady back from Bingo and she accused me of being a woman-driver. I looked out the window and obligingly commented on the snow. She said she wouldn't mind the snow so much - if it was winter.

I'm sorry it was a rough trip, but Nea sure looks happy in all that snow. I hope things get a little easier for you soon.
nea at the table is too much.
i can't wait for your book. how you could bring tears to my eyes in one simple phrase, i do not know. (my grandma had alzheimers, but even so...)
You're a brave girl, Sarah. Nursing homes aren't for sissies.
gosh, I'm sorry. tough sucks sometimes.
If it was winter there would be snow, right Sarah?
I glad you had a magical cabin to retreat to.
I don't know you but I'm sending you a X and a O
I'm sorry about your mummo. That's tough. I hope you were able to spend some nice time with her. With warm thoughts...
I am sorry to hear about your mummo, those places are tough, especially knowing one of your loved one has to stay there. But the book you had about Välimeri looked interesting :)
i'm sorry about your mummo, which is a phrase i've never heard before. i thought you meant your mother before i googled it. your grandmother will be ok and probably have more people and activities to do like you said in your next post. you'll be ok, too.
i love the photograph with nea and sauna. glad you got to go spend time with your mummo though i know it wasn't easy.
