i always think about what
i'm going to have for dinner during
savasanna. i can't seem to meditate. i try going to my "special meditation place" which is a frozen lake covered in snow with big pine trees all around. nice, right? then
madonna whooshes in all
shambala'ed and shit like in the
Frozen video. and from there it just gets worse. i consider
mehndi, earrings that connect to
noserings with little chains. dead can dance. and then the worst happens. i remember a tragic little trend from the early nineties.
gregorian chants in pop music. the end.
um...what's your special meditation place?

Truly enjoy reading your blog, such witty and slightly tormented observations. Absolutely love it. Your amazing and very active imagination makes savasana even more important for you, as I am sure quiet moments of peace are rare and fleeting. I am a yoga teacher and I always guide my students through first really finding the luxury in the pose. Let your arms and your legs fall out wide enough to allow for your palms to face up without effort and your feet to fall toes out and heels in. Then take a few more deep breaths and open the mouth on each exhale, release ujjayi breath. From there, simply keep your focus on your unregulated breath. Every time a thought arises, such as for you maybe people in full custom playing chess or the fact that a rhino's horn is made of hair, just acknowledge and turn the focus back to the breath. Moments of true surrender are brief, but eventually they will be offered up more often and for longer periods. Don't fight for them, just allow for them.

Honestly, I haven't made it past focusing on my breath. If I veer off from that I get lost every time.
at least you make it to yoga.
agree with miz nov. count breaths 1 to 10 on the exhale, after 10 start at 1. if you lose track or go past 10, just start at 1.
