great fun. if you have time go to Boulangerie Veronique Mauclerc (in the 19th arrondisment) for brunch - excellent interesting breads and v reasonable. its has an old wood fired bread oven, one of the last in Paris. Also opposite is Parc des Buttes Chaumont - very charming in an old slightly beaten way, with beautiful pine trees and one of the only parks in Paris with grass
but I should have mentioned that its a schlep out of central Paris - so don't bother if you only have two days. In that case make sure you go to the Rodin museum and the Musee Orangerie in Tuilleries (sp?) both much more special than the Louvre. And look at www.davidlebovitz.com for excellent food and chocolate recommendations.
I second the Rodin museum--it was beautiful and manageable (I was in Paris a week and walked past the Louvre 10 times and never went in--too big). Walks along the Seine are ok, but I'd choose Montmartre to wander about. Hope the trees are flowering early especially for you.
@judy: i'm going to paris for my honeymoon in may -- we rented an apartment from paris stay in case you are looking for an agency!
they were pleasant to work with, although upon confirmation of availability, you have to 1. pay agency fee via paypal w/i 24 hours 2. fax or email the signed contract w/i 24 hours 3. then upon owner's signing the contract and sending back, you wire the rent to the owner 4. bring travelers check of rent fees as security (which you get back when you leave, provided the apt isn't damaged)
worth it though to get a nice place of your own for half the price of hotels! i like to feel like i'm part of the culture and get a real sense of living like a parisian...
I started to have a transportation phobia too. I have a fear of bridges. I hate the tappan zee. I've never been to paris and know that I have the time I really want to go...but totally afraid of flying across water. Glad you doing it. fyi none of this started till I turned 28. weird.

poll: to versailles or not to versailles?
we have 6 days and 5 nights in paris. my fiancee isn't too keen on going there but i'm curious.
is it worth spending the day going there and checking it out?
