A rare moment of calm coffee out on the street this morning. Swamped with all sorts of different projects this week...so much I want to share right now. Like the Guinea Hens (Fritillaria Meleagris) pictured below and in the arrangement on top. This flower is so special...it's true that they are incredibly fragile, but I'm tired of fearing the fragile flower - flowers are not meant to live forever. Unlike Susan, who told me this morning over our coffee call that she has decided to live forever. [Everything is fodder for the blog mom...]
Incidentally, "Live Forever!" has been our toast since A, E and I read Secret History by Donna Tart.
I hope you toast to something tonight.
Happy weekend - I'll post again soon -- Sarah

You know, the McCreedy's on the farm next door when I was growing up, had guinea hens at one time...they used to run all over the yard. I see where the name of the flower comes from.
I liked the guinea hens better than the big white geese that used to chase us!
Mom (who's feeling younger already!)
What a glorious bouquet.
I loved The Secret History - I was a hardcore classics geek in high school and college.
I'll be toasting the completion of my thesis. Yay!
I love this arrangement for too many reasons to count. My fritillaria in the yard are just poking their leaves out of the ground now.
your blog is so beautiful. have a lovely weekend. xo
I love the checkerboard look of Fritillaria. However I too have never used it. I suppose because of the 'delicate' factor and the cost has always scared me off. Are they pricey? What is the silver berry looking thing in the first photo? I love your blog, I just discovered it. You do beautiful arrangements, I cant wait to see what's next!
