Student work I could pass off as my own..

anna sophia's arrangement

Gorgeous study in drama by Anna Sophia from the last flower class.

We've been busy with The Little Flower School since we got back from Iceland - Nicolette and I. We're working on our winter schedule...in the mix will be a wreath-making class, a second and maybe third rendition of the ever-popular ranunculus study, and - my personal favorite - a dutch masters class (you don't have to be a master of anything to participate.)

Any requests?
Keep it clean, please.

Just posted about our most recent flower class over at the Little Flower School blog...flower schools around the country should be blowin up right around now! We did this class at Nicolette's studio in Greenpoint. It's pretty there.

This past Sunday we did the Succulent Class at Little Flower School - one of my favorite classes yet...every single arrangement was to die for. I'll post all the arrangements soon on the LFS site. (But I just added the pics from Fragrant Flowers...)

Tonight's class from 6-9 is Spring Flowers 101 - Nicolette and I wrangled some early dogwood, fritillarias (3 varieties!), hellebores, ranunculus, tulips, geranium, muscari, narcissus, hyacinth and more to work with...there may be 2 spots left...

If you feel like a night out with flowers and a little Prosecco you could email us right away!

[The above arrangement by Amy was outrageous. Ever thanks to Amy (Merrick) for the photos..]

Lauren made this gorgeous arrangement in our hellebore class yesterday. Sigh...so pretty. Nicolette and I teach the class, Amy takes the photos, we all have champagne at the end! More photos of the results from the class over at the Little Flower School Blog.

I just ordered sushi for one. I'm going to chow down and then practice my Queen Nefertiti style makeup application. My weekend starts now, son.

Flower School makes the TMagazine Blog

As I sit here prepping for Flower School today, and randomly searching for last minute international flights, it brings me great pleasure to share with you this little article written about our Flower School for the NY Times Magazine blog...

And our NEW SPRING CLASSES ARE NOW POSTED, and filling up fast...the succulent one is my favorite.

If you know of, or have a cottage for rent in northern california, tulum, southern france, italy, spain, scotland, denmark or the netherlands please contact me sarah[at]saipua.com, because I'm going to try to make a run for it.

Flower School Winter Schedule

Our winter schedule is up on the Little Flower School site, we still have some openings in each of the 4 new classes...this photo above is a picture of one of my favorite of Nicolette's arrangements. It corresponds to our Herbal Workshop - we're going to jump-start spring this February by teaching all about how to grow herbs, cook with them, relax with them (woo-woo are you ready?) and of course arrange flowers with them.

Her arrangement here features an herb very dear to me; purple basil...inhale, exhale.

Shit, it's still November.

Our classes are so much fun - this was the best idea ever...see more here. I'm amazed at how enthusiastic and talented everyone is...Nicolette and I feel so proud of everyone, it's really touching and lovely...thank you to all the November graduates! Go forth and flower!

2 things about thanksgiving

ONE: Nicolette and I added a last minute class to our Little Flower School - a six person intensive Tuesday evening class on how to design in shallow compotes and unlikely containers using floral foam and chicken wire. All of us will make a Thanksgiving centerpiece-masterpiece-timepiece to be remembered by you and your Thanksgiving guests for all time forever. Also included in the cost of the class ($200) will be a special edition Thanksgiving Freaky Deaky Compilation Compact Disc, cooked up by yours truly. More info at littleflowerschool.edu

Just kidding, it's not a .edu, but it should be, because that's how legit it is.

TWO: We're taking orders for Thanksgiving flowers now, so if you'd like to have something delivered (in the 5 boroughs) or would like a little something floral to be picked up at our studio, just call (718.624.2929) or email (sarah[at]saipua.com)

Surrounded by opulent seasonal materials, students will have the opportunity to create their own autumnal masterpiece to take home.

Class is limited to 10 students.
Clippers will be provided and are a gift to take with you.
Of course, class will finish with a champagne and tea party.

The class will take place in the Saipua studio at 147 Van Dyke Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
