Short but sweet -- this peony mixed with some succulents, scabiosa and queen anne's lace* next to my bed at home.Sometimes smaller is so much better, no? I made a big arrangement of these on Friday for a client. It was dramatic, but I prefer little tie ups like this one. I know I've been hard on the peony, but in the end it's my favorite flower. One by itself does the trick...
*in the flower market a few weeks ago; the owner of a prominent NYC florist was selecting material for a wedding...the salesman pointed out some really strong Queen Anne's Lace ... he scoffed; "Ugh! Weeds? Never!."

What a lovely little arrangement! I absolutely ADORE Queen Anne's lace; I was driving down some country backroads earlier today and it was everywhere! It has a quiet beauty that is too often overlooked; I love seeing it in bouquets!

I live on 12 acres in the woods and weeds are definitely abundant around here. Funny thing is, there's really no such things as weeds. The Emerson quote is so apt. In fact, queen anne's lace is a natural herb for birth control. Dandelion makes a great bitter tonic. Plantain is makes for the stuff of salve dreams!! Weeds, schmeeds!
Ahhhh....weeds....from one who ate them for dinner last night!
Flowers are weeds that people collect and put in their vases. :)
as a florist myself, i have to say that sometimes "weeds" are wayyyy more beautiful than the flowers we covet.
