* Yes, I bought some geodes at the NY Gift Fair last year. Got a little trigger happy, k? Don't judge me! Some sold, some didn't. A girl can have her geodes and ... keep them too. But I might just put some on sale come sunday. So if you've been dreaming of a hot pink agate geode book end set then...girl, I got chu!

my favorite wreath from this past weekend. isn't there a poem about birds and blackberry pie? that would be a fitting name for this. except these berries are not edible. I should just say that right up front. I have to familiarize myself with nursery rhymes because Eric and I have a new little niece and her name is Inez Famisan-Robertson - born Friday under the sign of Sagittarius!

I crawled out of bed tonight for a late bachelors supper of toast* and wine around 10pm. My book is getting good and I came home after the longest day, took a hot shower, and retreated to bed to read. This never happens, and it was actually rather nice. Sweatpants; who knew?

Up now with strange energy, I am trolling the internet, desperate for some entertainment. At this point little can top the patty-caking kittens on youtube. The bar has clearly been set. I revert to answering emails.

Trying to find some photos for a client, I got lost in a wistful perusal of unedited Iceland pictures from September. Unedited meaning there are 3000 of them. I'd like to write more about that trip sometime. For now it's better left encapsulated in the confines of my iphoto.

I did find these (and lots of other pictures of sheep). The top photo reminds me of me and my mookie. We're in a big fight right now, but I still love him. On good days it's us against the world.

*my friend Jenna has brought to me a loaf of rosemary bread from the promise land. (OK, Buffalo) And it is the most ridiculous thing, toasted with butter and a dab of my mothers tomato jam. You're like loosing it right now just thinking about it, right? Well this loaf is almost done, finito, toast (ah, intended?) and I almost cried tonight about it. I considered emailing her mother in Buffalo and asking her to barter this bread for soap, an elaborate UPS trade criss-crossing NY state - a sort of honest fishes and loaves sort of scheme transpiring, (except with soap, not fishes obviously) the film cuts to quick cut footage of artisans making bread, soap, the line of travel dis-dashed on the whimsically drawn cartoon map...

The drumbeat keeps up marching on around here, day after day arranging, candle delivering*, wreathmaking, yule log eating (thanks to Joelle)...



I got my elves busting grooves here to the hot 97 around the clock.

Eric and I, in an attempt to learn to dance like Rihanna in time for our Holiday Bazaar, both pulled muscles in our quads. Can't stop.

*In a bit of a mad rush yesterday before our wreath class at Nikki's in greenpoint, we did a made a mad-dash tour to lots of our Brooklyn stores delivering the new candles. You can now find them at: Stuart and Wright, GRDN, Bird (on Smith Street), St. Kilda, and Cloth.

It's effing bananas outside here in nyc with 50mph winds and practically hot rain. The first of December, can you believe it?

I ran into someone this morning who commented on the "insane" weather we're having and it brought me right back to brooding about the environment and how royally fucked up it is.

That, combined with all the overwhelmingly annoying retail jargon going on in the mainstream media (cyber monday hit a new traffic record!) has led me to my own little holiday gift guide which is almost 100% earth friendly:

PLANTS! Why not wrap a little begonia or african violet in burlap and ribbon or newspaper and twine and write out a thoughtful card including instructions on how to care for it. I'd like to get that. I mean, if I had room for another begonia. Which I don't.

Or a tree? Or some bulbs. Tulip bulbs. No? Paperwhites?
Pet rock perhaps?...

I love to hear your thoughts on eco-gifts. Is it just another way of selling shit lately? By calling something eco-friendly. Sometimes it feels like it to me.
