It's been a strange few days. I found $10 in the street. I got a free leg of lamb.
I also had a hot and heavy two days with a canon 5DMarkII, as evidenced above when I turned it loose on one of our recent sample meetings. (Sample meetings...discuss amongst yourselves.)
Those are the best things.
Tonight I had a pained conversation with my boyfriend about "planning."
Discussed the farm's new bathroom.
Agreed to forgo the shower to save money.
Excited about bathing!
?
We also talked about a wedding that I feel obligated to do, because it's a lot of money. Eric says I should stick to my principles... that I need to make rules and then stick to them. I would like to remind him that we also have a farm without a shower. And that an outdoor shower is fun, but not in January.

I'm in the same boat. Principles and sanity vs. helping husband buy a new (and needed) car by taking on a big wedding. That farm of yours doesn't happen to grow money on trees, does it? :)
Hot baths are THE best thing after sacrificing your principles for a good payday. Just add wine and....awesomeness.
I too have a rural money hole in the ground. It's one of the nicest places on the planet, (field of gold) but it needs money to be thrown at it, which just disappears.
But you got to do it, so that means for you doing that wedding. And me sticking to my city job talking to idiots.
(p.s. You do need a shower0
Hot baths & audio books indeed
gilding the lily or gilding a turd? bathroom with no shower sounds like the pits. and please don't make the mistake i did and remodel your bathroom in the dead of an east coast winter. wait for the summer when an outdoor camping shower can make the whole thing appear glamorous.
You sound kind of down and out...hope you work things out the best you can! The flowers are just lovely.
life project
I vote for skipping the wedding, why spend so much money??? i just did a small city hall ceremony & a nice dinner with family. take just the honeymoon if you can afford it & really enojoy yourselves. For now put the money into your house & business.
Would you be willing to talk a little more about "sample meetings"? I'm just starting out and I obviously don't have a huge sample of work but I have a bride that wants to see a sample of everything she's wanting to use. I've already shown her two samples but she wants to see more. I'm feeling this is a bit excessive. Any advice would be awesome! Thanks
ugh. $$ and principles. This is why I'm broke, but damn I own a cute soapbox and I trot that puppy out when I need to feel good about those splintering floors that need replacing...
Amazing work! Love it! Just shared it on my facebook :)
just buy a long shower-head tube attachment for the bathtub and pin up a shower curtain. i bathed/showered like this for a pleasant winter -- sat on a little stool in the tub.
This made me laugh because right after we bought our fix-it-up-from-a-long-distance farm in Maine, which did not have the plumbing hooked up, I realized that my husband DID NOT WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON A RENOVATION! We've had the place for a year and this spring I'm getting a shower - luxury of luxuries it turns out.
Good luck with everything!
Usually I just lurk, looking for inspiration, laughing because I understand your sentiments, and enjoying your work. We two are very similar. But, when you say gilding the lily, I feel I should come out of the woodwork because that's the name of our little flower shop of horrors in wyoming. So, my two cents is that weddings feel like work, even if they're Your wedding, because they have been for so long. And, bathing is fun but it's incredibly difficult to rinse shampoo out of your hair in a bathtub full of water. Congratultions on your new shop on the island. I hope you & the girls survived your Valentine day. ~S
