interrupting regular programming; seeking travel advice

Photo: Valentine Schmidt/SIME from NY Magazine

If I bought a ticket to Iceland with Nicolette, and if we were sitting around here drinking wine in the afternoon researching a trip to Iceland, would you per chance have any recommendations on where to go and places to see?

hypothetically speaking..

Oooooh go! We're planning to go to Iceland for our honeymoon...

It seems like you'd want the Blue Lagoon for pampering, The Golden Circle for stunning scenery, and Reykjavik for the nightlife and culture...

Hi sarah,
Yes. Go to iceland. I just returned from my second trip there and it has stolen my heart. If you go to my blog you can see my recent trip photos here: http://www.googandwinnie.blogspot.com/

Last years pictures are more extensive and they are archived on my blog here:

I enjoyed being there during the summer solstice at the
end of June, when purple lupine are waist high across much of the island. I suggest spending about five days in
Reykjavik and then atleast a week driving around the island and seeing the wilderness.

Don't eat the fermented Shark meat.
Otherwise it should be a very amazing exoerience, and I believe the dollar goes a long way at present.

Iceland is incredible! I stayed in Akureyri for awhile when I was there which is a quaint little town- and Husavik is a town up north within the arctic circle, a fishing town with whales and puffins all over. Also, if you can, check out the glaciers. There's a bus that takes you between the two and it's a totally different climate in the middle of the island- kind of chilly but there's a little hut where you can get heart shaped waffles and coffee near one of the glaciers. Oh and just in general the fauna is amazing in such a unique way- like a fairy land of moss, lichen and tiny wildflowers.

I was there two summers ago - Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon was the highlight of the trip, it's AMAZING.
